The car's back! I went to collect it after work today and it drives like a dream. I am so pleased to have it back after what feels like an eternity without it.

The garage did me a great discount on the replacement of my clutch, partly at least because of mucking me around last week when they thought they had solved the gears problem.

It did worry me slightly whether I had been pushing the car too hard recently due to the fact that I only had my clutch replaced just over two years ago.

The garage that did my clutch this time around assure me though that they are nearly 100% sure that when the clutch was last done, despite me being charged for a full 3 part clutch they actually only changed one of the parts!

This they tell me could be one of the reasons why my clutch has died an early death.

Anyway, the car's back with a new MOT Certificate, new windscreen, new 3 part clutch and two new clutch cylinders.

What could possibly go wrong now..?

good & bad at 20:14 GMT by dave

Good news and bad news... but mainly bad news. The good news is that the car has now passed it's MoT so another year has to pass before I go through all that again.

The bad news is the gears problem. About a week ago, the garage did a pressure test and found what they thought was a leak in the clutch slave cylinder. They quite promptly replaced this and apparently, the problem was solved.

They drove the car a few miles and back and called me to tell me what the problem had been. Circumstances meant that I couldn’t pick the car up on that particular day so instead went after work on the next day only to find that when I went to go for a quick test drive, I couldn’t get it into gear!

The guys at the garage apologised, said they would knock money off the final price for the inconvenience and told me that during the day that the car was sat by itself, pressure might have dropped again and that the problem could now lie with the master cylinder.

A day or so later, they had replaced this as well but it still hadn’t sorted the problem!

I am now waiting another few days or so while they look into possibly having to replace my clutch! I can’t believe it, especially considering that I only replaced my clutch two years ago!

That's enough for now... I want my car back!

   August photos ...
Here's the clutch plate that is clearly missing pieces...
I couldn't resist giving her a good clean and wax when she was home...
Here's the proof!
Broken clutch
Back and shiny!
It passed!
